The Microsoft Teams app allows you to complete your security awareness training directly inside Microsoft Teams.

You’ll receive course notifications and reminders in Teams and can launch and complete courses without opening a separate website or relying solely on email reminders. This helps you stay up to date with your assigned training while working in your normal day-to-day tools.

If you are responsible for installing or configuring the Microsoft Teams app for your organisation, refer to the Installation Guide instead.

Getting started

  1. Open Microsoft Teams.
  2. Click the Boxphish icon on the left.
Can't see it? If your organisation has recently enabled the app, it may take up to 24 hours for the app to appear in Teams. Restarting Teams can help refresh the app list.

Taking a course

  1. Click Start to begin your selected course.
  1. Progress through the course.
  2. Once Complete, click Back to Courses in the top bar to return to Your courses.
If your organisation allows retaking, after failing a course, Start will appear as Retake.
Need to keep speaking to people on Teams? You can open the app in a new window by clicking the 3 dots in the top right and selecting Open in a new window.

Notifications and Reminders

You will receive course notifications directly in Microsoft Teams when:

  • A new course is assigned to you.
  • You receive a course reminder.
  • Clicking a notification will open the app and take you directly to Your courses.
Depending on your organisation’s settings, you may receive email notifications in addition to Teams notifications. These are not duplicate assignments.

Switching view

You can switch between either card or list view at any time.

The switch is located in the top right of Your courses.

Revisit a course

  1. Click Completed Courses
  2. Click Revisit
Scores are not recorded during a revisit.

Mobile compatibility

The Boxphish app automatically syncs across all versions of Microsoft Teams that a user is signed into, including desktop, web, and mobile. The app provides seamless access to training via an easy-to-reach icon within Teams. Courses automatically scale to the device being used, with no loss of functionality or user experience.

If you are experiencing issues using the app, try some of these common troubleshooting tips.

  • Click Reload the app in the top-right menu.

  • Check your internet connection.
  • Make sure Teams notifications are enabled on your device.
If haven't found any of these are working for you, please contact your organisation’s IT or Security team for assistance. If instructed by your organisation, you may also contact Boxphish Support.
